Statewide Automated Victim Information and  Notification - SAVIN

SAVIN is an acronym for Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification.  The U.S. Department of Justice, through the Bureau of Justice Administration (BJA), implemented the SAVIN program to assist states in building, implementing, and improving victim notification strategies and systems throughout the United States.

•  NY-Alert – NYSDHSES
•  NYS Association of Chiefs of Police
•  NYS Police – eJusticeNY – Integrated Justice Portal
•  Westchester County Office for Women
•  NYS Office for Victim Services
•  NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence
•  NYS Unified Court System

The NYS Sheriffs’ Institute has been in the business of providing victim notification services since 1998 when it received its first Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding grant through the New York State Office of Victim Services (at that time it was known as the Crime Victim’s Board). The purpose of this grant was to establish and administer VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) in county correctional facilities throughout NYS.  The NYS Sheriffs’ Institute continues to administer this program in New York State today.
